TERMS
TERM ONE: September – December
TERM TWO: December – March
TERM THREE: March – June
No lessons are held during Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer Break, statutory holidays, or other scheduled closures.
PAYMENT
Lessons are billed monthly and are due in advance. Invoices will be sent and are payable within 7 days of receipt via e-Transfer to rachelsuzannemusic@gmail.com. Failure to submit payment on time may result in a pause in lessons until payment is received.
MAKE UPS, CANCELLATIONS, AND ONLINE LESSONS
Please read the following carefully. I reserve a specific time for each student in my schedule. This is a commitment I take seriously and expect my students to take seriously as well.
Make Up Lessons
I do not offer make-up lessons.
Cancelled Lessons
If you cannot attend a lesson after committing to a lesson time, you must provide a minimum of 48 hours notice. I allow one cancelled lesson per term (see term dates above), and will credit that missed lesson in the next monthly payment. Any additional missed lessons, or lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, are considered forfeited and will not be reimbursed.
In rare circumstances lessons may be missed due to a true emergency that warrants special consideration. Situations such as these are open to case by case discussion.
Any lessons cancelled by me (due to illness, performance schedule, etc.) will not be paid for by the student, and will either be refunded or credited.
Online Lessons
Online lessons are available at your regular lesson time if this is ever a preferable option (illness, travel, difficulty commuting, etc.). Please provide as much notice as possible if you wish to move your lesson online.
LESSON ETIQUETTE
Please arrive at your lesson prepared with all necessary materials (music, water bottle, pencil, etc.). If you are working with digital scores, please email them to me prior to your lesson. If you are running late, please text or call me at 604-897-9164. If you arrive late, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time.
PRACTICE
Practice is the most important component of learning an instrument. With consistent practice, music lessons become fun, rewarding, and confidence-boosting.
Regular practice is expected between lessons in order to support steady progress. In my studio, students are expected to develop a consistent home practice routine. This is especially important in the early stages, when foundational habits are being formed, and it remains essential as repertoire becomes more challenging.
Many students – particularly younger ones – benefit from guidance and support in establishing and maintaining a regular practice schedule. Practice does not need to happen in one long sitting; frequent, short, and intentional practice sessions are often the most effective. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you would like tips or strategies to help support practicing at home.
